The
Accuphase P-800 is a high-end stereo power amplifier released in 1988. It was developed as a stereo counterpart to the M-1000 monaural amplifier and is known for its "monster" power and dual-mono construction.
Description & Key Features
Dual-Mono Design: The unit features two separate power cords and independent power supplies for each channel to ensure maximum signal separation and stability.
Fully Balanced Circuitry: Employs a totally balanced signal path from input to output when using the XLR inputs, which helps eliminate external noise.
Low-Impedance Drive: A standout feature is the "Low Impedance Mode" switch (located behind a hidden front panel door), which adjusts the applied voltage to the output devices to handle difficult, low-impedance speaker loads.
Output Stage: Each channel uses 14 pairs (28 total) of wide-band high-power transistors in a parallel push-pull configuration, providing a massive maximum power dissipation capability.
Aesthetics: Features the signature Accuphase gold faceplate and large, symmetrically arranged analog power level meters that display output in both decibels and watts.
